Knowing God Accurately · Part 3 of 4

Knowing God's Ways

How He operates — moving from knowing God's acts to knowing His ways.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 · Coming Soon

God's ways are simply how God operates: His patterns, His principles, and His consistent way of dealing with people and situations.

"He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel."Psalm 103:7

Israel saw His acts — they saw what God did, His miracles. Moses knew His ways — he understood how God works. One is a spectator of God's works; the other is a friend who understands His heart. This lesson calls us to move from knowing God's acts to knowing His ways.

Part One: What Are the Ways of God?

1. God's Process — God develops us step by step

God often works through refining, stretching, and shaping. He is more interested in who we are becoming than in how quickly we arrive.

"You have tested us… You brought us out into abundance."Psalm 66:10–12
Practical Example

You pray for patience, and instead of giving it instantly, God allows situations that build patience.

2. God's Timing — God works in seasons, not in a hurry

He is never late and never early; His timing is always perfect.

"To everything there is a season." — Ecclesiastes 3:1  /  "In the fullness of time…"Galatians 4:4
Practical Example

You want a breakthrough now, but God waits until the moment that will bless you without destroying you.

3. God's Wisdom — His decisions are higher than human logic

His decisions may seem mysterious, but they are always perfect.

"My ways are higher than your ways." — Isaiah 55:8–9  /  "How unsearchable His judgments."Romans 11:33
Practical Example

You lose a job, but later realize God was redirecting you to something better.

4. God's Covenant Faithfulness — He keeps His promises

He is faithful to His word and to His people, from generation to generation.

"The faithful God who keeps covenant."Deuteronomy 7:9
Practical Example

You tithe faithfully, and over time you see God consistently provide.

5. God's Training & Discipline — God forms character

He corrects us to make us stronger, and He corrects us because He loves us.

"Whom the Lord loves He disciplines."Hebrews 12:5–11
Practical Example

A door closes because God is protecting you from a wrong path.

6. God's Guidance — He leads step by step

He directs paths, gives counsel, and orders the steps of those who trust Him.

"I will instruct you and teach you." — Psalm 32:8  /  "He shall direct your paths."Proverbs 3:5–6
Practical Example

You feel a gentle nudge to call someone, and that call becomes a divine appointment.

7. God's Dealings With Nations — He shapes history and leadership

He raises leaders, sets boundaries, and orchestrates seasons in the life of nations.

"He changes times and seasons." — Daniel 2:21  /  "He determined the appointed times and boundaries."Acts 17:26
Practical Example

A nation shifts politically, and God uses it to open doors for the gospel.

Part Two: Why Is It Important to Know His Ways?

1

You stop panicking when life shifts

Knowing His ways helps you interpret His actions correctly. You understand God is working even when you don't see it, and you stop misreading delays, trials, or silence.

2

You trust God more deeply

Recognizing His patterns removes fear and confusion. You become anchored, not shaken.

3

You grow spiritually

You respond with faith instead of frustration. Your intimacy with God deepens: you know how He thinks, not just what He does — the difference between a spectator and a friend of God.

4

You cooperate with God

You align with His purpose. You stop fighting His process and start flowing with it.

Part Three: Consequences of Not Knowing His Ways

  • Confusion and frustration — you misinterpret God's actions, thinking He is ignoring you when He is actually training you. Those who only know His acts often complain, doubt, or rebel when His ways seem slow or unusual.
  • Spiritual immaturity — you react emotionally instead of spiritually. Without understanding His ways, believers remain shallow, easily offended, and unstable.
  • Missed opportunities — impatience makes you move before God's timing. Ignorance of His ways leads to premature decisions and missed opportunities.
  • Repeated unnecessary cycles — when you don't understand God's training, you resist it and end up going around the same mountain again, facing the same lessons because you resist His process.

Part Four: Summary

God's ways reveal how He operates, the principles behind His actions, and the wisdom guiding His dealings. They are seen in His process, His timing, His wisdom, His faithfulness, His training, and His guidance.

Knowing His ways transforms your walk with Him from confusion to clarity, from frustration to faith, and from immaturity to spiritual strength. It helps you walk with confidence, peace, and maturity.

For Reflection & Discussion

  1. Which of God's seven ways described in this lesson have you experienced most clearly in your own life?
  2. Is there a delay, closed door, or season of silence you may have misread? How does this lesson help you see it differently?
  3. Where might you be resisting God's process right now, and what would cooperating with Him look like?
  4. What is one practical step you can take this week to know God's ways, not just His acts?
Affirmation · Confession to Declare Aloud

Father, teach me Your ways. I choose to trust Your timing, follow Your guidance, and submit to Your process. Your wisdom leads me, Your covenant keeps me, and Your love shapes me. I will walk in Your ways with peace, faith, and understanding. Amen.
