The biblical roadmap to knowing God and attaining status, power, and grace in the Spirit.
Grace and peace are multiplied through knowledge.
"Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord."2 Peter 1:2
There is an exact knowledge of truth that translates into grace.
"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."John 17:3
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" They answered, "Some say that thou art John the Baptist; some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets." He then asked them directly, "But whom say ye that I am?" (Matthew 16:13–15)
Simon Peter answered, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus responded, "Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 16:16–17)
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."Proverbs 9:10
"...the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power."Ephesians 1:17–19
"Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish."Psalm 49:20
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."1 Peter 2:9
"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read."Luke 4:16
"Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God."Hebrews 10:7
"Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?"Job 38:33
"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given."Matthew 13:11
"O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!… What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour."Psalm 8:1, 4–5
"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men."Psalm 115:16
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."John 10:10
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."1 Peter 5:8–9
Scripture reveals the character and methodology of God.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God."John 1:1–2
The names of God capture various dimensions of His character.
"And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel… they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM… this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations."Exodus 3:13–15
"And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."Exodus 6:2–3
He came as a manuscript and a correction of our understanding of God. Under the old covenant, few people encountered God, and only by the election of grace. Jesus came as our clearest perception of God — the revelation of the Father.
"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high."Hebrews 1:1–3
"I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee."Job 42:5
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life… God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."1 John 1:1–2, 5
There are nearly 4,000 religions in the world, and the number keeps growing. Most are similar — pseudo-expressions of one another. Our stability in the days ahead will rest on the depth of our connection to the true God.
"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding."Isaiah 40:28
No matter how diligent we are, we will only ever know a small portion of God.
Omnipresent — God is everywhere at the same time.
"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."Psalm 139:7–10
Omnipotent — God is all-powerful. There is a dimension of His power reserved not for this age, but for the age to come.
"…and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come."Hebrews 6:5
Omniscient — God's knowledge is absolute.
"For we know in part, and we prophesy in part."1 Corinthians 13:9
The best of our revelatory gift is still only a part and a portion. All things come from God, and in His light we see light. He lives beyond eternity, because eternity is still a function of time — it is time without end. His realm is the eternal now.
For our profiting and dominion here on earth, there are three aspects of God's nature we must pursue: His character, His ways, and His power.
This is the first thing God desires every saint to know.
"The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works."Psalm 145:8–9
There is a dimension of God's compassion that everything He created must experience — this is why even Satan has an appointed length of time before his destruction. It is not His way to judge and destroy simply out of anger; God always allows time for repentance.
Everything God gives, endures.
"And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."Galatians 3:29
Everything God told Abraham, routed through Christ, is a believer's reality today, according to Galatians 3:29. God is a lifter of man, and a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
God's character speaks to who He is; His ways speak to how He operates. Beyond the gift of discernment, a thorough knowledge of the ways of God is itself a key to walking in discernment — when you know how God acts, you also know how He does not act.
"Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."Psalm 25:4–5
One thing God will never do, even in prophetic ministry, is manipulate the will of man. He cannot and will not superimpose Himself on anyone; He respects the will of man. A leader who understands this will never force people or override their will. We have been called to the ministry of reconciliation; it is not God's desire that people perish. People must be given room, with sufficient information, to make their own choices.
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."Matthew 22:29
The assignment of God's power is to bring all things into His will. There is no weakness for the believer who knows the power of God. It is the revelation of God's power that brings you into unquestionable dominion. The end-time Church is given power in two dimensions:
"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."Ephesians 6:11
You can know God accurately when you understand His ways, His character, and His power.
